We’re extremely excited to announce that Keith Scholey - award-winning Director of Silverback Films (famous for producing'Our Planet with David Attenborough' for Netflix) will be speaking at Bristol Grammar School on 5th March 2022, sharing his work and educating STEM students about our incredible natural world.

Dr Keith Scholey has been making award winning nature documentaries for nearly 40 years. These have included David Attenborough’s 'The Living Planet’ and ‘The Private Life of Plants’. He was head of the BBC Natural History Unit from 1998 -2002 and later became the Controller of BBC Factual Productions. He is now a director of Silverback Films which recently made ‘Our Planet’ for Netflix. After hearing about our STEM Science projects which have included, Plastic in our Oceans and Deforestation, Keith has very kindly offered to give a talk sharing some of his film clips from his documentaries.

Our aim is to raise money to send children from our partner school in Uganda the Kamurasi Primary School to visit their local rainforest where the population of chimpanzees and the forest itself is threatened. Every ticket sold will enable one child from the Kamurasi School to visit the forest.

Mrs Edwards who left Horfield last year and the UK registered charity Children of Masindi have spent 13 years working in partnership with teachers and staff at the inclusive Kamurasi School. Trustees will accompany the visit to the Rainforest hopefully in October this year.

Horfield Choir will be singing songs to include the Forest song (composed by the children at Horfield Primary School) on the theme of the rainforest and all children who come to the event will be able to join Horfield Choir to sing at the end of Keiths presentation.

Tickets will be in high demand. Please buy online. Children will need to be accompanied by a parent.
